PFJ 2021 ~ Repeat and pass it on!

This is it for our Plastic Free July project! We hope you have come across some ideas that can help you minimize your plastic waste, and not just during the month of July, but for the rest of your life.

The plastic crisis we have all contributed to can feel overwhelming and paralyzing. Plastic is built into our lives in complicated ways that allow us only difficult, limited, and confusing alternatives. But we have reached a point at which radical change is necessary to ensure our survival as human communities. And that change needs to start with individuals. Every single one of us plays an important role in this change.

Take on the challenge of eliminating plastic waste from your life one day at a time, one habit at a time. Don’t give up. And, more crucially, pass it on to your family, friends, colleagues, extended social circles... The change we need will come when enough people realize the magnitude of the problem and demand an economic shift from government and industry. It won’t be easy, but it can be done. It must be done.

And if the challenges ahead feel impossible to overcome, remember Margaret Mead’s quote: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
